Calling the Moon

In honor of the beautiful April full moon, lyrics by Dar Williams   Fullmoon

"The moon wanted more of my night
I turned off the engine and the headlights
The trees appeared as they'd never been gone
I promised the fields I'd return from now on
And the moon kept on rising
I had no more to say
I put my roadmaps away
And surrendered the day

And I know you'll be calling me soon
And if I don't answer I'm calling the moon
Calling the moon
I was calling her then
I'm wondering will she take me again
Oh, I am calling the moon

When I called the moon back to me
I thought she wanted my beauty
I shone in the best that vanity buys
I covered the path where my life turned to lies
And the moon kept on rising
But I felt nothing at all
She comes when the empire falls
And shines on crumbling walls

Calling the moon
By the name that she chose
As Tennessee wandered in moth-eaten robes
Oh, I am calling the moon
Calling the moon
Oh I'm calling the moon

Oh, make sense of me, night
I can see so much from this cold height
The moon said oh darkness my work is done
I've poured this bottle of light from the sun
But their anger keeps on rising
And they don't understand
I've shown them all that I can
That the world is at hand

And I know they'll be calling me soon
And if I don't answer I'm only the moon
I can see by her light
This one's going out to the moon tonight
Oh, I am calling the moon

Calling the moon
'Cause I know what it's worth
To tug at the seas and illumine the earth
Oh, I am calling the moon
Oh, I am calling the moon "

Family_picDad retired in January, and we were all able to get together for a celebratory dinner in February.

Office Conversation?

So the guy who sits next to me is on the phone, and this is what I hear:

"Hi Honey.......did you go again?.....that's twice in less than an hour......how was it?.....liquid?.....very liquid?......uh huh......uh huh......you probably need to take some more of that medicine.......no, I can't just come home, honey......does your tummy hurt?.......yes, that's going to hurt too if you keep going like that......take some more of the medicine......no, i can't just come home......take some more of the medicine and crawl under the covers......whatever makes you more comfortable......ok, i'll see you tonight, you can call me anytime you need today.....I love you, too.....goodbye"

So his kid's home with a stomach virus or something, but do i really need to hear the details? Very Liquid? That's the fun of working in cubeland, we get to hear all sorts of things we don't want to. That was a nice way to start my day, right? I can't wait for her to call him again!!!

Girl Scout Cookie Time

Yes, it's that wonderful time of the year when we get to order Girl Scout Cookies!!  Now, the Fort Worth scouts actually pre order their cookies, so they hand them to you right when you order them. The Dallas area scouts do it the old fashioned way, order now, deliver next month. Either way, find a Girl Scout and get your cookies today!!!

Tonight we went to the Stars game. They won 3-0, and we won with these fabulous after-the-game shots when we met the players!

What a Weekend!

What a fun weekend we had! After the exciting High School Musical 2 premier on Friday night, the girls stayed up singing for awhile! We rose early Saturday to get a jump start on back-to-school shopping. The whole shopping with a teenager thing is always a beating, but we managed to get alot of clothes for not alot of money, and nobody got hurt! Then it was on to the circus - the first one that Princess remembers. (I think I took her when she was real little, but I can't really remember either!) We had a blast, it was quite fun. We stopped by Great Gma & Gpa's for a long visit before coming home - how many of those do we have left?   Today started with Twin Time, something we never get enough of! Then we went to watch L ride her beautiful horse, Corrie. L rides English, which I had never really seen up close before. The saddles don't even have horns, how do they stay on???  After Princess trotted, and almost fell off, it was my turn. I was a bit apprehensive, but I did it and it was FUN! And I didn't fall off, either! Corrie was a very good girl, very patient with the novice rider on her back.  For a weekend that started out without much planned, we sure did a lot!
